Você sonha em fazer graduação nos Estados Unidos mas tem um GPA baixo e está se perguntando em quais faculdades você pode entrar apesar disso? Então confira agora essa lista que compilamos das faculdades menos seletivas dos EUA. Mas presta atenção: mesmo sendo mais fáceis de entrar, todas elas são instituições de boa qualidade. Ou seja, mesmo que você tenha um GPA baixo, isso não significa que uma boa educação está fora do seu alcance.
Quadro geral: o que você pode fazer com um GPA baixo?
Se você estiver olhando o seu GPA com preocupação, vamos tranquilizá-lo: a primeira coisa é que você pode obter uma ótima educação, não importa em que faculdade você for estudar. É aquela velha história: quem faz a sua educação não é a sua universidade e sim o seu interesse, então cabe a você aproveitar ao máximo as oportunidades que serão oferecidas.
Nesse texto eu vou falar de três principais grupos de instituições de ensino que podem ser boas opções para você:
- Faculdades com sistemas de aplicação alternativos, algumas das quais nem sequer exigem suas notas durante o Ensino Médio
- Sistemas universitários nos quais você pode se transferir de um campus para outro
- Grandes escolas estaduais com requisitos de admissão menos competitivos
O que é um GPA baixo para a faculdade?
Primeiro, devemos esclarecer o que eu quero dizer com “ter um GPA baixo”. A definição de um GPA baixo depende muito de seus objetivos pessoais e faculdades de destino, mas uma regra geral é que qualquer GPA abaixo de 3,0 o coloca na faixa mais baixa da maioria das faculdades do EUA.
É verdade que um GPA 3,0 é a média no país, mas lembre-se de que muitos estudantes do Ensino Médio americano também não frequentam a faculdade. Assim, aqueles que acabam ingressando no ensino superior geralmente têm GPAs mais altos. Como você verá abaixo, o GPA médio das faculdades de nível inferior está na faixa de 2,9 a 3,3.
Tenha em mente que mesmo com um GPA baixo você ainda tem boas chances de entrar na faculdade americana se mandar bem no ACT ou SAT. Se o seu GPA não representar bem o seu potencial acadêmico, você pode mostrar suas verdadeiras habilidades e capacidade nesses testes.
O seu GPA não mostra quem é você de verdade?
Se você tem um GPA baixo, mas sabe que é capaz de muito mais, três faculdades americanas oferecem uma maneira totalmente diferente de inscrição:
- Goucher College: você envia apenas um vídeo de dois minutos sobre você. É isso aí. Sem transcrição de notas e nem SAT/ACT. Você apenas deve explicar por que merece ser admitido na instituição.
- Bennington College: também não há necessidade de enviar testes e GPA. Em vez disso, você entregará uma coleção do seu trabalho (uma espécie de portfólio) para demonstrar suas habilidades criativas e intelectuais.
- Bard College: aqui ainda há a exigência do envio das notas no Ensino Médio mas o candidato pode optar por responder vários Essays de nível acadêmico. Essa é a oportunidade de ter um desempenho incrível e provar que você pode muito mais do que o seu GPA sugere

Se você precisar de um pouco mais de tempo para demonstrar o que pode fazer, pense em se inscrever em um campus menos competitivo de um sistema universitário estadual. Você pode, depois de um tempo, se transferir para um campus mais rigoroso no mesmo sistema.

As faculdades menos seletivas dos EUA também são boas instituições de ensino
Como você pode ver, um GPA baixo não precisa desqualificá-lo de algumas ótimas faculdades. De fato, muitas escolas com baixos requisitos de GPA são universidades estaduais populares e bem conhecidas. Por outro lado, se você é fã de faculdades menores, também existem muitas opções.
Além disso, não importa onde você deseja estudar EUA, é mais do que provável que exista uma escola com baixos requisitos de GPA dentro ou perto da área em que você pretende morar (a única exceção é o estado de Wyoming). Também é importante reforçar que alguns estados da lista acima têm muito mais escolas que outros e isso provavelmente é resultado de diferenças populacionais.
Por fim, lembre-se de que, mesmo que seu GPA seja menor do que o esperado pela sua faculdade de interesse, você pode aumentar sua chance de aceitação obtendo uma pontuação alta no SAT/ACT e enviando uma ótima inscrição!
